Balance the bonus against individual slots
Set bonuses reward collecting and equipping related pieces, but a set should not be completed automatically at the cost of every stronger standalone item. Compare the total equipped result: base stats, useful effects, character multipliers, and the set bonus together. One weak piece may still be worthwhile when the completed effect solves a major route problem; several weak pieces may not be.
Because sets occupy multiple equipment slots, they also change what can be upgraded later in the run. Before committing gold, identify which piece is hardest to replace and which piece contributes the least by itself.
Collect with a purpose
Open every listed piece to find its known drop sources and collection value. If the remaining piece comes from a dangerous region, consider whether the expected set bonus justifies the Adventure Points and risk required to farm it. Permanent collection bonuses can make repeated pieces useful even when the complete set is not equipped in the current run.
For early progression, consistent improvements usually matter more than forcing a rare complete set. In later progression, specialized sets can become efficient when the character, route, and boss reward all benefit from the same stat direction.
Would the set still improve your build if one piece were replaced by the strongest standalone item you currently own? If not, inspect the actual bonus before spending more resources.
