The shortest route is not always the strongest route

Use Grassland as the orientation point
Grassland is the early hub. Forest and Volcanic extend to the west, Desert lies to the east, and the Underwater route begins through the northern docks. The World Gate is reached to the south as progression opens it. Void Hunt is a special route connected through Volcanic rather than a normal continuation from every region.
The atlas offers both a spatial overview and a compact list. Open a world to follow its map sequence, branches, and bosses. Open an individual map when you need its art, dimensions, or the bosses associated with that location.
Plan around Adventure Points
Every detour should have a purpose. A longer branch may be worthwhile when it offers a needed drop, safer experience, or a boss reward that strengthens future runs. The same branch becomes inefficient when regular encounters consume too much health or too many Adventure Points for the expected gain.
Before changing worlds, check three things: whether your current level is comfortable against nearby monsters, whether your equipment covers both damage and survival, and whether you still have enough Adventure Points to reach the intended boss. The best route adapts to the drops and character build of the current run.
Map entrances can sit near screen edges. Move close enough for the camera to reveal the transition area, then continue into the boundary. Use the atlas if you are unsure which edge connects to the next region.
